Description: Our school had organised an educational visit to Sri Krishna Science centre for the students of Std VIII and IX.
A small show on the theme ‘Science on Sphere’ was shown to brief us about all the planets in the solar system. As the lights were switched off, the students had the feeling of being an astronaut observing the planets. We were shown videos on topics – atmosphere, ocean, earth, land, astronomy, etc. All these were shown to us on a spherical screen.
Students saw how the earth, sun and all other planets look like when seen from the space; land of each planet was shown. Information about satellites of earth and other planets were shown. The cloud cover over Indian Ocean and other city was shown and how it will change in a period of time. The image of earth at night when seen from the space was screened and explained how the earth would look like if the water bodies will be removed.
The students were taken to different sections of science centre after the show which they enjoyed very much.
The mirror gallery was the most exciting part; Bhulbhulaiya was another excitement. Not only the planets but also the innumerable species of plants, their different size and shapes caught our attention.
Among other attractions at the Science centre were the pendulums creating chaos; rings defined gravity and colured liquids made impossible mixtures. String less piano which produced song on waving sound in the air. Even at one place people who visited, left their shadows behind.
It was a memorable experience to visit the Science Centre.
