Description: Nurturing of children to make them grow as good human beings and responsible citizens is not at all an easy task. It cannot be done single handedly, but requires a lot of counseling and collaboration. In the wake of this, Xavier's annual Parents 'Teacher's meeting was held in the school premises on 22nd April, 2017. The programme started at 5 o' clock in the evening when almost 1000 parents had seated themselves comfortably in the lawn under the open sky. Nature also favored us as it was cool even at the onset of the summer. The ambiance of the school looked very beautiful and warm with the banners right from the school gate, welcoming the guests with open arms. The stage was also very beautifully presented and decorated with the theme of the academic year 2017-18 'My Bihar my pride in the background', all the necessary arrangements were also made. Before the formal beginning of the programme, the parents were asked to meet the concerned teachers and discuss about their wards. It set the mood for the beginning of the programme. It started with the invocation of God through a prayer song by the school choir. Fr Rector addressed the gathering stressing the need of quality education which consists in overall development of the students rather than only on academic excellence. We need to inculcate values in the students so as to make them adjust well in the world of mechanization. The XPTA President Dr. Amitabh, then stressed the need of more support of the parents for the development of the students and their all round development. He even announced the assistance of the XPTA for the furnishing of various facilities in the school and conduction of various activities in the summer programmes for the students. He congratulated the school for the setting and the functioning of the e-Care. The online payment of the fees, messaging, interaction of the students among students and with teachers has and will facilitate more in the coming future. The XPTA secretary, Mr. Sumit Saurabh, then read out the Annual report and mentioned the activities that took place during the last year. XPTA treasurer, Mr. Amar Prakash gave the XPTA annual income and expenditure report. An XPTA member, Mr. Ajit Jha, then threw light on the problems regarding students and even suggested possible and practical remedies to it. In today's life, parents often don't spend time with their children and the children are pulled towards gadgets and escape studies and hard work. Children spend only six to seven hours in the school, rest seventeen to eighteen hours they spend at home with their parents. So their role in the development of the students become all the more important. It is useless to blame teachers for it. It is not at all difficult. Irrespective of their educational qualification and experience, they should sit with their children, ask about their performance , problems in studies and should give all possible help. This not only motivates the child but they also feel cared and learn by imitation. Only an enlightened mind can ignite others. Then Fr .Principal shared his vision of forming men and women of Competence, Conscience and Compassionate Commitment. He asked for more cooperation of the parents for the smooth functioning of the school. Education involves three important aspects - - - student, teacher and parents so it is required that all of us shoulder our responsibilities well. He read out the suggestions of the guardians - - - making English the campus language and many others and assured to do the needful. He stressed on maintaining discipline by students in and outside the school as it is the cry of the day. By now the atmosphere was beaming with the bright light mixed with the twilight in the sky. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by the Vice Principal, who thanked the parents, teachers, staff members for making the programme a successful one. We all stood for the National Anthem. The parents listened patiently which showed their eagerness for the enhancement of their children. 'All's well that ends well', at the end before dispersing, the parents saw the power point presentation on Jesuit education, which added charm to the whole programme. The cool breeze touched and soothed all. The chairs were left empty and once again silence regained but it was certain that the meeting had stirred many hearts and led them think more about their role. XPTA is the most important association of the school as it links the parents , teachers and the management together. We don't stand individually but together as one family. Together we can and we will be able to achieve our goal.
