Description: “The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” Brain Herbert School is a place of learning. In order to fulfill its aim it holds number of activities and competitions. English Essay Writing Competition was held on 11th September, 2023 in the High School during the first period. All the students, from classes VI to XII participated in the competition Each class was given a topic to express his/her views in the specified word limit. “Good writing is a clear thinking made visible.” Bill Wheeler. The topic for class VI was India of my dreams. The students very well expressed their dream of India free from pollution, corruption, illiteracy, India should represent unity, harmony, peace and advancement in every every field. Class VII wrote on the topic Contribution of Technology in Education. In the backdrop of pandemic the students emphasized the importance of technology in imparting education. Teaching learning process would have come to a standstill without the use of mobile phones, Whats App, applications as Zoom, M.S. teams etc. At the same time they stressed the limitation of it and we should only use it as a aid. Class VIII expressed their views on The joy of living in a joint family. The theme of our academic year, 2023-2024 is EDUCATION FOR RECONCILIATION. First we should reconcile with our family and neighbors. The students well expressed their views emphasizing the role each member plays in a joint family to bring joy, prosperity to family and at large to nation. Class IX students narrated an account of most exciting event in the school, stating how it is the best of all celebrations. Most of them mentioned about the celebration of Teachers’ Day as it is fully organized, conducted performed by the students under the guidance of some teachers. It gives them a thrill to thank their teachers on the special day. Some wrote about the other co curricular activities that have shaped their life. Class X students wrote on the topic Describe how your school prepares you for further studies and a career of your choice. It again gave them a chance to delve deep and explore the academics and the curricular activities conducted in the school. The various seminars, webinars, online talent hunt exams, career counseling and guidance, excursions, the activities in the various groups as Taru Mitra. LTS, Choir, Karate etc. are a few to mention. Class XI students explored the topic, Examinations are an essential part of education system. Though tests and examinations have become fear factors for students yet it has its own benefits. It is a bitter pill which helps to clear all doubts, enhances our memory, writing skills and understanding. The students very well expressed its necessity and worth is accessing our achievement and setting a standard and goal to achieve. The students of class XII wrote on the topic Covid has turned the world upside down. The students cited, though we have come out of the ravages of Covid 19 yet its effects are still haunting us like an evil spirit. The economy has suffered, many lost their jobs, the ailments with which many are still suffering are a few. On the other side it gave a new way of life in the form of online classes, work from home, boost to medical system thus completing the picture of post pandemic.
