The 65th Annual Sports Meet of St. Xavier’s High School, Patna was celebrated on 9th December. Amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie Mr. Sanjay Kumar, District Sports Officer, Patna was the chief guest. Present on the occasion were the special guests of Honour, Dr. Amulya Kr. Singh, Akshat Hospital (Vice President, St. Xavier’s Alumni Association), Dr. Amitab, Cardiologist, PMCH, President, Xavier’s Parent, Teacher Association, Media and Parents.
The Chief Guest and other dignitaries were welcomed by the student council and honoured with bouquets and momentous. The flame was lit and a relay was performed by the champions of the school (inter wing) followed by the march past of the four houses lead by the commander and Head boy of the school, and the oath taking ceremony.
The Principal welcomed the guests and gathering formally. It was followed by the intriguing performance of welcome formation by the students of Senior Secondary Section. This was entailed by the unfurling of the school flag and the declaration of the meet open by the chief guest.
The embellishments of the event were the splendid field displays by the primary and pre-primary using involving mass student participation on the themes of “Save Earth, Save Trees”, “My Bihar My Pride” and “Nature and Her Strength”.
This was followed by the enthusiastic Karatey display by the students and enchanting yoga display which set the mood of positive spirit of sportsmanship. This was followed by some track events by the Primary Wing and some races of Balancing the Stick, Spoon Race, Bursting the Balloon, etc.
In his address the chief guest lauded the Sports Day event and stated that the efforts of the students and Teachers had resulted in a flawless presentation. He congratulated the Principal and the entire team for the event. This entailed the Prize Distribution Ceremony where medals and certificates of recognition were given to the students.
The individual champions of the day were – Amitabh Anand, VII-C, Lions (Junior Boys), Vasundhara Singh, VI-B, Leopards (Junior Girls), Shratik Kumar, VIII-A, Tiger(Inter Boys), Nutan Nameeta Xalxo, VIII-A, Panther (Inter Girls), Mayank Bharti, IX-B, Lion (Senior Boys), Anjali Kumari, IX-A, Lion (Senior Girls), Kaleb Diwan, XI-D, Tiger (+1 Boys), Ujala Singh, XI-F, Tiger (+1 Girls). The Champion house was Tigers, first runner up Panthers, Second runner up Lions and fourth Leopards.
