Description: The idea of Justice The idea of justice is a fundamental concept that has been debated and discussed by philosophers , legal scholars and ordinary people for centuries. In order to serve that purpose and to know more about justice, how it means different for different individuals, History for Peace Conference on Idea of justice was held on 2nd and 3rd of December 2023 in Delhi Public School, Patna by Seagull foundation . Around 150 students accompanied by teachers from various schools attended the conference . Four students from our school , Mukul Singh(10C),Abhishek Aryan Pandey(9A),Sakchi Sambhavi(12F) and Srishti Divyans(10B) with Dr.Poonam Gupta , the animator of LTS attended the conference . We received a very warm welcome from the host. The ambience and atmosphere all spoke about justice.. There were students in groups of two dressed in attire of different states welcoming everyone by greeting of that state. For this conference , the whole school was decorated with different things made by recycled products of which each and every thing spoke of eco friendly theme . Childrens showed tableaus of gram Panchayat, high court ,supreme court ,bonded labours demanding justice, Narmada Bachao Andolan etc. which represented justice very beautifully . The lady of justice made from old newspapers was the centre of attraction . We were handed a bag of cloth with a diary , booklet and pen in it. It was a two day conference. On the first day , it started with the lighting of lamp and a beautiful welcome song. Then we were addressed by Mrs. Meena Megha Malhotra, the director of Seagull Foundation who organised this conference. Then, it was followed by speech of Mrs.Aruna Roy who has served as IAS officer from 1968 till 1975 and discontinued to work for welfare of society . She started working for workers by establishing MKSS(Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan) society. She enlightened us with the knowledge of links between justice , food and shelter. There were two more sessions like this. The next speaker Pankaj Jha, professor of history in Lady Shri Ram College of Delhi spoke about the knowledge of politics , pedagogy and pragmatism of justice from examples of his life own life .The third speaker Margorie Brown was a teacher of history in South Africa . She is currently a human right activist in context with post apartheid era. She told us more about justice and its perspective in context to apartheid era. All the sessions were very interactive as the floor was open for questions . In the second half of conference,we had workshop in which we discussed various topics and debated on that. We had a few more games to know more about each other present in the room. We learned that day about how any issue can have so many perspectives like each coin has two different sides . On the second day of workshop also , we had the privilege to meet three more activists . First one was Shahrukh Alam who is a lawyer as well as a human right activist. She told us the difference between terrorist and a criminal and how they should be judged. Secondly we heard Mr.Apoorvanand who is a professor of Hindi at DU .He enlightened us on the idea of how justice is misinterpreted between youth and how it should be dealt with. Lastly, we heard to Mr.Suraj Gogoi, Assistant professor at R.U. University , Bangalore. He told us about the idea of death citizenship and its link with justice .That day also the two-way communication remained established between the audience and the speaker .The workshop that day we had at last was based on justice as Central theme in which we had to make charts and human presentations on some incidents happening in world related to justice .We were divided in 5 groups . We debated on pros and cons on the points of other groups presentations. Then at last we were taught how to differentiate between the authentic news and the fake news . We enjoyed the whole two day conference and learned various things . Firstly , we got inspired by the life of activists and learned what motivates them to fight against injustice and openly speak about that . Secondly, workshops enhanced our communication skills . We as LTS’ers , the future leaders were able to knows more about the problems of real world and learned and discussed about the ideal solutions to that. Also such workshops helped us to broaden our ideas and perspectives
