Description: On 19th August 2023, St Xavier’s High school organized an English Declamation Competition that served as an ideal talent platform to showcase the talent of budding speakers. It is a competition activity that encourages students to excel their knowledge and public speaking skills. The competition was held for the students of class XI and class XII BSEB in the Xavier Hall . Students displayed their oratory talent by declaiming famous speeches of great personalities.
The program was inaugurated by principal Rev. Fr. K. P. Dominic S.J. He welcomed the esteemed judges as well as the audience with the words of inspiration and motivation.
The name of judges were:
1. Dr. Professor Neerja Lall.
She is the founder and Head of the Department of mass communication in St Xavier’s College of management and technology.
2. Mrs. Ipshita Saran
She has worked in several prestigious school of Patna as HOD in English. She is the HOD of English in Litera Valley, Patna
3. Sister Nelsa AC
She has teaching experience in Mount Carmel, Lucknow. She was the co-ordinator in prestigious school, Kanpur. At present she is teaching in Patna Women's College for several years
The judges were felicitated with Bouquet and Mementos by our respected Father Principal
The competition was held with a view to create an opportunity for the young speakers to come forward and share their talks. A wide range of speeches were selected by the participants as a part of their presentation.
Eighteen students participated in the English Declamation Competition nine from class XI and nine from class XII. Each participant were well prepared and did a good job in articulating their speech. The Declamation was excellent. Everyone performed extremely brilliant. Some of the famous speeches delivered by them were : Female Education by Malala Yousafzai
Talkless and Speak more by Muniba Mazari
Be Fearless by Priyanka Chopra
Be Perfect in your Imperfection by Lisa Nicholes
Three Visions for India by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Rev. Fr. Peter Arockiasamy S.J. plus two incharge declared the result of the competition. He appreciated the efforts of all the participants and encouraged the other students to come forward and participate in such events. He appreciated every participant’s great confidence, enthusiasm and eloquence in their oration. He invited the esteemed judges to give away the certificates and prizes to the winners.
The anchors of the Declamation Competition was Ayush of std. 11 B and Shya of std.12 C. Their efforts towards anchoring was excellent and brilliant. Their presentation skill were commendable.
The judges were very impressed by the quality of speeches . They said that the young people giving the speeches was a true pleasure to watch. They also remarked that it was their pleasure serving as a community judge. They appreciated the student’s commitment to learning , analyzing and memorizing the speech. They also focused on some improvements needed while delivering a speech.
The program ended with the vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Peter Arockiasamy S.J. plus two incharge, Bihar Board. He extended his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the coordinator teachers, judges, anchors, participants and audience and all the helpers who gave their best and worked hard to make this event a great and successful one.
Lastly, the national anthem was sung to conclude the programme.
