Description: “Clothes make the man, but costume make the character” This has been proved by the
tiny tots of KidZone St. Xavier’s High School, KidZone, Patna.
This year on 9 th August, 2024, the pre-primary wing of St. Xavier’s High School
organized a ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ for the children of UKG. There were different
themes for all the sections like Community Helpers, Fruits, Vegetables, Food Items,
Famous Personalities, Animals, Birds, Nature and clothing style of people from different States of India. The common theme for all the sections was “Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam - The world is a family.
Fancy Dress Competition is much more than just wearing a costume. When in character
children learn to role play. They learn more about the character or object they are
dressed up as.
The children displayed their talents on the given themes. They were dressed up like
farmer, milkman, fish-seller, Bengali groom, South Indian, different food items (like,
maggie, cake, popcorn) inspiring personalities like Bhagat Singh, Rani Laxmi Bai, APJ
Abdul Kalam and so on. They also spoke different regional languages and gave message through it which left the audience and judges amazed. Huge number of children participated in the competition.
Mrs. Veronica Mervyn (Retired Teacher, St. Xavier’s High School) and Mrs. Sheetal
Bharti (Dance Teacher, Primary Wing, St. Xavier’s High School) judged the competition.
Our Principal Rev. Fr. K.P. Domichan, S.J. delivered a welcome note and appreciated the
parents for preparing their children for the competition and also for making colourful and unique costumes for the children. Vice-Principal Rev. Fr. Junas Kujur, S.J., were also
present to motivate the children.
After the competition, vote of thanks was given by KidZone Coordinator Mrs. Shivani
Bhaskar.
With the great hard-work and enthusiasm of the children, parents and teachers, the event was successfully held. This competition has proved that scholastic and co-scholastic activities have an equal importance in the over-all development of the children.
