Description: A seminar on Indian constitution - - - 'WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved....' How many of us do remember the words of the Preamble of the Constitution? It is very few. So a seminar on Indian constitution was held in St. Xavier 's on 2nd February, 2017. It was headed by Fr. Phillip Manthara, S.J. and Mr. Praveen, both are social activists. A declamation contest of the Preamble was also held for the students of class IX. The students recited the Preamble in hindi and in English and received awards for first, second and third. Along with that a discussion on Indian Constitution also took place. The students were divided in nine to ten groups. They sat in a circle. They were given different topics for discussions like 'Threats of India and ways to overcome it'. 'What kind of India do we dream of ? 'The students were given time for discussion and then the leader of the group was supposed to relate its thought. The programme was very informative and joyful. It added lots of information to the students. There is a need and demand for activities like group discussions and many times candidates fail in such activities. We impart such skills to children at this tender age when their minds struggle with lots of queries. Let them find the answer for themselves by knowing and discussing the problems as they are the leaders of tomorrow of -A brighter India , A cleaner India and a more prosperous India. We congratulate the group which organised the event of National importance. In today's world when we are busy with our own needs we ought to think on such issues and we can proudly say that the Jesuit Institutions are doing their work for' God and Country '.
