Description: August is a month of festivals, with its lustre of greenery and life. Along with other festivals we celebrated Rakshabandhan. Rakhi is a festival of love and care - symbolising a bond between brothers and sisters. But in the present context it has a wider connotation. It refers to love and protection for all, a feeling of sharing and care for all. In the wake of this, rakhi making Competition was held in our school on 20th of August, 2018, for the whole school - from the students of Kid Zone to Plus Two. It was very well conducted by the students of LTS group of our school. It was marvellous to watch the talent and dedication of the students, who had come prepared with their materials to make Rakhi along with their innovative ideas. Things widely used in making Rakhi were threads, ribbons, pearls, thermacol balls, decorative papers, spices, rice, pulses, beads and many other decorative items. In the last two periods the children were fully engaged in using their artistic skill at its best. The next day the rakhis were displayed to be sold . The students bought the rakhis and the best ones were picked up at first. The whole atmosphere was charged with a festive mood. It was a thrill to see the excitement of the students. It gave them a chance to know their hidden talents as even boys won prizes for the best rakhis. They understood the meaning of rakhi better when they made it and will always remember in life. These treasured moments will remind them of their vow of protection that they have taken. At the end the best ones were awarded first, second and third prize along with consolation prizes to some. Through such Competitions the school gives opportunities to the students to hone their latent talents and shine, bringing out their creativity.
