Description: Summer Camp is a unique step and initiative taken up by most of the schools to fill the holidays of the kids and the students with fun and frolic at the same time learning and enhancing their talents too. Nowadays the fragile minds of the small children are totally engrossed in the gaming zone of cell phones. They are becoming couch potatoes sitting and whiling away time in front of T.V. laptops and holding mobiles. Parents as well as the children find helpless at times to come out of this addicted world. As a result rebuke, revolt, tantrums and scolding are becoming order of the day in almost every family. In such acrimonious situation the summer camp event organized by the school relieves and relaxes both the parents and the students. Such programme brings a bunch of activities that provides wonderful opportunity and a platform to showcase the storehouse of the hidden skills which the kids possess. It gives them the much needed break from their regular routine and hustle and bustle of academic life and imparts an experience of carefree living. The Summer Camp, organised by the XPTA, was kicked off ON 21ST May,2019 at St. Xavier’s High School. The event was inaugurated and declared open by the XPTA President Mr. Ajit Jha followed by the best wishes and words of encouragement and appreciation by Fr. Principal .The programme continued for a fortnight and the students and their parents welcomed and participated in it with great zeal and enthusiasm . This widely accepted drill by the XPTA presented a host of activities like swimming, table tennis, karate, painting, art and craft, western dance, spoken English and basket ball to hone the artistic skills of the children and their physical fitness too. Each and every activity was held separately in different session and slot of time and was closely monitored by expert teachers, coaches and trainers. The students of all age group starting from L.K.G to STD IX took part in the camp .They Learnt various art and craft like making colourful toran, piggy bank, newspaper, box, rose bouquet, to name a few. The tiny tots of L.K.G. AND U.K.G. were taught to make tortoise from paper plates, a sheep from cotton balls and learnt to decorate photo frame. Indeed it was aesthetically pleasing. Majority campers participated in swimming as they enjoyed beating the heat of the sweltering summer in the swimming pool. They were imparted swimming skills like free style, back style, diving, floating and paddling by the national and state level trainers and swimmers – Mr. Arun Dubey , Miss Puja and Mr. Crantantra Kumar . This way the young kids explored their potential and passion for such arts and simultaneously widened their horizons. It was exciting and adventurous for them as they learnt and relaxed at the same time. The programme finally concluded on 4th June with a performance by the western dance group on songs like coca-cola, chadh gaye and mash-up .The students of the Spoken English activity shared their views and experience on the communication skills that they acquired during the session. It would surely prove fruitful in facing real life situations. We felt grateful to our school teachers – Mrs. Rinku Sinha for table tennis,Mr. Sanjeev Kumar for basket ball, Mr. Anuranjan Ekka for spoken English ,Mrs. Purnima and Miss Apurva for art and craft who volunteered and spared their valuable time in training the young minds and being so friendly with the children throughout the entire programme. Special thanks and appreciation was given to Mr. Amar Prakash ,the treasurer of XPTA who supervised and very well co – ordinated the summer camp event efficiently. Indeed the summer camp, 2019 was a memorable experience for all the students as at the end of it they took many important skills and lessons. They learnt to socialize and work as a part of a team by cooperating and coordinating with each other. Keeping in view the present scenario we strongly feel that children should learn different skills of life as it is a very important part of their growing stage and formative years. Great many thanks to XPTA and Fr. Principal once again who showed keen interest in organizing this type of purpose - based programme.
